Bar Chairman Attends DUP Conference
29.11.2011
On Saturday 26 November, Chairman of the Bar Council, Adrian Colton QC took part in the Justice discussion panel at the DUP Party Conference.
Addressing the conference alongside Paul Givan MLA, Chairman of Justice Committee, Susan Reid, CEO of Victim Support and Robin Newton MLA, Member of the Policing Board, panellists faced questions from party delegates on important matters such as mandatory sentences for crimes against the elderly, the needs of victims in the criminal justice system and improving the image of the legal profession.
The event highlighted how such interaction between public representatives, practitioners, service providers and users is hugely worthwhile. The Bar Council is planning a similar event in the New Year to examine issues and improvements across the justice system.
